Why eat organic strawberries ?
Did you know there is a list called the Dirty Dozen™ that
comes out each year ?
Strawberries
top the list almost every single year.
Among others, strawberries had residues of two or more pesticides on at
least 90 percent of samples.
What exactly is this list?
The Dirty
Dozen™ is a trademark term used to define the twelve crops that farmers
typically use the most pesticides on.
List of
foods is kept up to date each year by the non-profit, Environmental Working
Group (EWG), as part of the EWG’s Shopper’s Guide to Pesticides in Produce™
awareness campaign.
The data
for these food lists comes from the United States Department of Agriculture
(USDA) Pesticide Data Program. But the scenario isn't too different here in
India, when it comes to strawberries.
Many crops contain potentially harmful pesticides,
even after washing, peeling or scrubbing, which the USDA does before testing
each item. And strawberries are fruits we wash and consume directly.
Here at HB
We are
very grateful to our passionate farmer friend Sandeep who sends us with
great care certified organic strawberries all the way from Mahabaleshwar.
He has been practising organic farming for the past 4 years and takes great care in growing these delicate fruits with absolutely no chemicals.
We have
been absolutely enjoying the quality we have got this year. Messages from you all make our efforts worth
it.
Here are
few among the many messages we’ve been receiving from you this year and will share
them with our farmer Sandeep too.
